I have a cold, Kort has a cold, and I'm still constantly nauseated. Kort went through a couple of days of feeling so crappy he just wouldn't stop crying and wouldn't sleep--and at any given time, any of the following was happening: he was pulling on my legs saying "up, up, up" to be held, he was pushing away food, he was throwing Cheerios or cheese or grapes on the floor, he wanted to cuddle, he resisted the tissue heading to wipe his runny faucet of a nose, or he just wiped the snot all over his face, rubbed it in his eyes, and then rubbed it on me.
What a week.
I have to say I'm really, really glad it's Friday. Kort loves spending time with his papa, and I think I'll definitely take Andy up on his (soon to arrive) offer of giving me some time off this weekend. Last weekend they played and I went to a local holiday craft fair, took a bath, did yoga and took naps--it was glorious!
I realize it's been a while since we've shared any adventurous stories of traveling the lands of the Scots...hopefully we'll get out to explore more soon. It's been pretty cold and dreary, so we've been sticking closer to home than we'd like. Next weekend we're taking a quick trip to the CITY--London! It'll be fun to be in a real city. I'm hoping for some good food (please, God, let me be interested in tasty foods by then!) and maybe a little shopping (the exchange rate makes shopping slightly more attractive right now).
Otherwise, life has been pretty low key...except for the following
- I had my first (12 week) ultrasound this week and all looks good so far. Baby's got 2 arms and 2 legs and is moving around a lot, so that's great news. Now, just let these darn hormones even out so I can feel human again...
- Kort attended his first Halloween party, dressed as Dracula. He totally dug h
is costume. On the day before the party, we did a dress rehearsal to determine if he would even keep it on. He seemed to love it! I took him to look in the mirror and he started turning from side to side, checking himself out and making one of his many strange sounds. Then he ran around the house with his cape floating behind him. We didn't get many trick or treaters, but he liked answering the door and seeing kids from the neighborhood in costume. He wasn't so keen on handing out the candy--he prefers to stand on the stairs and take the candy from the dish and throw it down the stairs. Then he crawls down the stairs, and throws the candy around some more on the floor. If any candy happens to fall out of it's wrapper, he takes a taste and then spits it all over the place. The other day, I found a Mars bar in the bathtub. He had been holding it for about an hour and then decided to deposit it in the tub (luckily, with the wrapper still on). - Kort also started his swim classes this week. Pretty fun so far, though he is one of the oldest and most active of the kiddos (so he'd prefer to run around and that I don't hold him the whole time). Pretty soon he's going all the way under--not sure what he'll think of it!
