July pictures are here.
August pictures are here.
A lot has happened in the two months since I've written.
First, Tess has turned into a darling 10 week old baby. And, get this: she sleeps about 9 hours a night. In a row. And she doesn't have to be rocked or nursed or bounced to sleep. I had heard about these kinds of babies, but I truly didn't believe it was possible. It is.
Now, she's not perfect all of the time--in fact, when she's upset she can scream very loudly for a very long time. But, that seems to be mostly when she's got tummy troubles. Otherwise, she's pretty easy. But, she's pretty small--just barely 10 lbs, and 15th percentile in weight. I'm trying my darnedest to fatten her up, and the health visitors here continue to stress me out that I'm not nursing her correctly. But, given that Kort had no problems nursing, I don't think it's that. Not only is she not a huge eater, but her meals always seem to be interrupted by her dear big brother. Or, she has Andy's build & metabolism--which means she could easily be a supermodel one day...
Speaking of Kort....he is now a very grown up 2 year old (I can't believe his birthday is in less than a week!). He's talking up a storm--putting all sorts of words together. For some reason, the phrase "that one" is currently a favorite of his. Maybe because it's the first time he's been able to really specify what he wants. Now he's able to clearly articulate to me what he wants. Of course, he rarely wants the one I give him, it's always "that one".
He also has just started to use the word "ok"...which sounds like "o-tay". A common conversation in our house...
Andy: "Kort, would you like pizza for dinner?"
Kort: "Ooooh, pizza? O-tay..."
Kort LOVES his baby sister. And LOVES to kiss her and hug her. Sometimes this includes putting all of his weight on her while he climbs in her carrier to cuddle. He's very concerned when she's upset. In fact, at the health centre today, he heard another baby crying and said, "Oh, missy...". (We often call T "little missy").
Finally, the movers are here and our time in Scotland is coming to an end. We're heading back to the land of barbecue, margaritas and tex-mex, and chicken friend steak (can you tell what I've been missing?). Lately, so much of our energy has been focused on getting our stuff organized and selling things we can't bring with us--most importantly our car and our bigger electricals. Andy's off selling the car as I write this and I finish delivering our items next week. Thank goodness for Summers Nursery--Kort's been going there everyday for 2 weeks. I don't think I could have gotten ready with him here.
It's a bittersweet time. We're happy to be moving closer to family, but there are many, many things we'll miss. I will definitely miss the weather we're having today. It's really hot--maybe 80 degrees! I'm trying to soak it all in over the next few days--even when we're crazy busy with the movers and the kiddos. Since we have gotten so much work done and our house is torn up with packing, we'll be getting out to say goodbye to this beautiful country over the next few days. So more pics to come....
