What's hot:
- Pulling the pillows off of the couch and throwing them around on the floor. Sometimes I like to put my head down on them and pretend that I'm resting; sometimes I pick them up and put them on my head. Mostly I just like to move them around on the floor.
- Walking. Most people wouldn't yet call me a walker, but I will let go and walk a few steps from one piece of furniture to another on my own. I like to do it when no one's looking (so mom hasn't gotten a video yet). I also like to walk and then fall down on purpose on the pillows I mentioned above.
- Bananas. Not only do I say "nana" now, I am more excited about bananas than I have ever been. I start making a sound that is similar to a wheeze when my mom starts to peel one. Then I fake-cry til I get a piece in my mouth. And, I'm getting over my issues with texture because I'll pick up and cram bananas and avocado in my mouth.
- Left hands. I mostly use my left hand to feed myself. Sometimes I use my right hand to assist in the aforementioned stuffing of food in my mouth. But, it looks like I might take after my dad and be a leftie.
- Independent play. Don't get me wrong--I LOVE playing with my mom/dad/friends. But, I also like to crawl into the dining room and hang out with my toys. My current favorites are the animal train (from Beth and Ken), wooden puzzles, the box of cardboard coasters with beer labels, anyone's shoes, and of course those pillows.
- The bathtub plug. I've always really liked bathtime and my various bath toys. Now I've figured out how to pull the plug, so I can spend an extra 5 -10 minutes in the tub after the water has drained, putting the plug in and taking it out. And, everytime the bath is over, my dad makes me watch which way the water drains. He says in the northern hemisphere, all water drains in a counter-clockwise direction (or something like that)--did you know that?
- Poops. All these new foods I'm trying are keeping me regular. Sometimes I poop three times in one day. I'm practicing the word poo-poo, too. Mom still says PEEEEEEEE-UUUUUUU when she changes me and I giggle really hard.
- Reading books with my dad. We've really gotten into a groove where my papa reads me stories at night. Currently, I'm into Goodnight Moon, Quack Quack, Dog, That's Not My Lion / That's Not My Puppy, Tails, and I am a Bunny.
What's not:
- Getting dressed. I just don't like to stay still to change my diaper and put clothes on.
- Bumping my head. I still seem to do this a lot as I'm navigating my way around the house and it makes me quite unhappy.
- Transitioning from reading to nursing. One of the only times I cry is when I'm sleepy, the books are over, and I'm ready to nurse. It's just so hard to hold it together at the very end of the day.
