Hi ya.
This is my new Scottish way of saying hello, and I say it all the time. Hi ya, hi ya, hi ya (most of the time I say it three times in a row). I'm not exactly sure how I learned it, but everyone here says it, so I thought I would too.
This week I also like to stand in Leo and Odie's water bowl (I'm no longer happy with just splashing my hands in it. I stomped my foot in it today right after mom got me dressed for our mom and tots group, so it was new pants, shoes and socks for me after that).
I now know exactly what I want, when I want it. So, my new way of communicating is to reach my hand out and whine. Occasionally, I'll do the handsigns my mom and dad have been showing me, like water, milk, more, eat, and down. But, most of the time I like my whining sound--and it works.
I've learned how to crawl up the stairs on my own. Normally, my mom goes up behind me to make sure I don't fall backwards. But, the other day I snuck up the stairs and went into the bedroom to wake up my dad (he only thought he was getting to sleep in on Sunday!). I just about gave both of them a heart attack--they've decided it's probably time to put up the baby gate because I'm not very good at coming down the stairs. I often turn around and topple down, which is not good.
I've recently been schooled by a few older kids at our playgroup (a little girl named Lucy pushed me down hard last week), so I'm not quite as rough with the other kids as I used to be. I'm so curious about them, sometimes I just want to touch their faces and pull their hair. These days, I'm pretty good around kids, but I still like to bite my mom. I think it's funny when she says "no" sternly, so I think she's trying to think of some new way of getting me to stop biting. We'll see what she comes up with...
Oh, and I love peas and grapes. I still love cheese and yogurt and banana and basically any fruit, but you can't put the peas and grapes on the table fast enough for me. I wonder, do they have peas and grapes in Amsterdam?
